On the French Riviera, two gangs of children compete in cliff-diving contests. Aged between five and seven, the children in this hybrid of fiction and documentary race around on miniature motorbikes and clash with one another. Drawing on Romeo and Juliet, the film follows Géo as he befriends Eve, a girl from the rival gang. Behaving like miniature adults, the young protagonists gradually discover a larger world shaped by friendship, loyalty and pain. The latest film from celebrated cinematic provocateur Bruno Dumont was presented at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight.

Bruno Dumont
A former philosophy teacher, Bruno Dumont (The Life of Jesus, Humanité, Flanders) made his feature debut at the age of 38. His films have received numerous awards at Cannes, including two Grand Prix. Dumont’s cinema brings together realism and existential themes, beauty and brutality, often set against the stark landscapes of French Flanders. He challenges audiences by subverting the conventions of genre cinema. Scanorama has previously presented Camille Claudel 1915 (2013), Slack Bay (2016), the musical Joan of Arc (2019) and The Empire (2024).
