About the project
The European Film Festival Scanorama is the first film festival in Lithuania not only to have brought European cinema to the capital and the country’s major cities, but also to have made a committed effort to reach its regions.
Scanorama has set out to establish a tradition of watching quality cinema beyond the capital, and aims to make European film an integral part of the cultural landscape in Šiauliai, Alytus, Palanga and elsewhere.
Broadening and deepening Lithuanian audiences’ acquaintance with European cinema, the festival takes a fresh look at bringing film to the regions, with an approach no other festival or film distributor in the country has tried before: rather than one-off screenings, Scanorama Summer stages mini-festivals in towns across Lithuania.
