About the film

Two married and heterosexual chimney sweepers are confronted with situations that fundamentally change their views on gender and sexuality. The first sleeps with another man but does not relate his experience to sexual orientation or infidelity. His colleague has a recurring dream in which he feels like a woman. How deeply does the external gaze contribute to the development of personality? Both friends feel confused and lonely. In silent breaks, looking at the rooftops of modern Norwegian houses, the audience is invited to rethink normative society together with the men. Sex, the first part of a trilogy on sexuality and the male image, was awarded Best European Film in the Panorama programme of the Berlin Film Festival.
