Within 24 hours, the life of art student Una turns upside down. While Reykjavík mourns the worst traffic tragedy in the city's history, Una grieves in solitude: unlike her friends, she keeps a secret and is unable to express her grief openly. Icelandic director Rúnar Rúnarsson's emotionally complex film about bereavement opened the Cannes programme A Different Look: alongside mourning and human vulnerability, the beauty and resilience of youth shines through, reminding us that after tragedy a new day always comes.
