About the film

Ulrik is a kind of honest person. He has no special desires and does not demand anything from anything. He doesn’t care much, and what he does himself. He just takes and does. If someone feeds him food on the table and gives him a roof over his head, he will do whatever is asked. It doesn’t matter if it’s going to be a love game or what kind of person to kill. And here his son (whom he had not seen in the eight years he had spent in prison) had already grown up. He is a good, educated guy with a wife and a bright future. Only va, his father will kill. Ulrik’s son’s girlfriend doesn’t like it at all. Her family is completely different - she is interested in children and plants. They have the principles. Ulrik is an honest person in his own way, but how honest can he be?

"We are born. We grow up. We lose our innocence. We behave foolishly. And then we die. Before death, we try to regain dignity before it is too late. Rarely do we succeed. But we try. And then we look miserable. Isn’t that shameful? Yes, but to be ashamed of man. In this age of computer accuracy, human error is the only obstacle to order. "A self-honest man is a film about painful flaws, a tribute to far from imperfect sex, and a global campaign against the meticulous precision of the people who rule the world," says director Hans Petter Moland.
