About the film

An already old Moroccan forces his son Red to take him to Mecca. It is clear from the beginning that the journey will be difficult. Reda has nothing to do with her father, the dialogue is very difficult. Reda wants to survive this journey in her own way, and his father demands respect for himself and this pilgrimage. They travel through ever new countries, meet a wide variety of people, but at the same time watch each other carefully. How can they build a relationship if they are completely unable to communicate? Their journey from southern France via Italy, Serbia, Turkey, Syria, Jordan to Saudi Arabia is almost 5,000 kilometers.

"Reda and his father belong to a culture where communication between father and son is very difficult, if at all possible. The gap between them (generation, culture, language) is even greater because they are only deportees in France," comments Isma? Lis Ferroukhi.
