At seventeen, Ainara is expected to decide what to study at university - at least, that is what her family hopes. While her friends embrace the pleasures of youth and the freedoms of adulthood, Ainara feels that her true calling lies elsewhere: she wants to become a cloistered nun. Her unwavering decision shocks her family and throws them into turmoil. Through the conversations of a Spanish family caught between faith and doubt, the film probes the complex relationship between institutional religion and individual choice.
