About the film

Bobby drives the motorway between Vienna and Salzburg, picking up passengers to help cover the cost of fuel. Along the way, he encounters all kinds of people and listens to their different accents and stories. Bobby shares his own life, too, reflecting on the passage of time and the experience of growing old. Mountains loom beyond the windows as roads and bridges cut through the forests rushing past. London is neither documentary nor fiction, but something closer to an experimental road movie. The anonymous conversations with Bobby’s passengers bring the political concerns of contemporary Europe into focus, while spontaneous companionship brings warmth to the solitude of life in transit.
