In Germany, nursing home workers celebrate the New Year. A suspicious official visits the home of Congolese refugees. In medieval Europe, a wanderer loses his way in the forest. Across three allegorical episodes – merging VHS and film textures – the work traces Germany’s cultural identity and the dynamics of social exclusion, culminating in a vision of humanity adrift among the wreckage of a ship. Inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s The Ship of Fools.
