On a hot summer's day, an unexplained electrical malfunction sends Oslo residents into collective migraine attacks and leaves electronic devices inoperable. Everything goes back to normal as suddenly as it started, except for one thing: the dead come back to life and appear to their still-mourning family members: a mother killed in a traffic accident, a beloved husband, and the dead son of a mother steeped in depression. Led by a striking duo of Norwegian actors, this popular horror novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist is a film about loss, mourning and life's defiance of human desires. The film opened this year's Gothenburg Film Festival.
