Lucie is a forensic expert preparing to retire. After the death of her partner, she lives a reclusive life. When a young family moves in next door, the neighbours develop a warm relationship, but it soon becomes apparent that her new friend Jan is a serial criminal and an activist who is extremely hostile to the police. Lucy is faced with a dilemma - to defend her profession or her friendship? Working again with actress Isabelle Huppert, veteran French filmmaker André Techiné creates a drama of conflicting political values and allows the fragile side of the police profession to emerge.

André Téchiné
André Téchiné wrote for Cahiers du cinema in the 1970s and made his first film, Paulina Is Leaving, in 1969. Today, he is considered one of the most important directors of the French New Wave.
