Jérémie, a mysterious and handsome young man, returns to his mountain hometown in Occitania after the death of his mentor, whom he loved dearly. He stays with the widow Martine for just a few days, but a mysterious disappearance, an aggressive childhood friend and a sticky priest turn the tables. A seemingly homoerotic tale of lust turns into a melancholic and uncomfortable noir, in which the autumnal landscape of western France charges each encounter between the lonely wanderers with paranoia and hesitation.

Director
Alain Guiraudie
Alain Guiraudie is one of the most unique voices in French cinema, an outsider. Guiraudie speaks out and makes films about homosexuality, depicting the lives of working-class people, and choosing regional locations over the centre of the country. His film Stranger by the Lake (2013) was also screened at Scanorama and won the Cannes Film Festival's A Different Look award for Best Director.
