According to the authors of the film, the current Italian system of government is not a democracy - it is a video democracy. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has created a unique system by combining politics and the television business. The TV channels he owns constantly broadcast half-naked girls and basically reflect his own character and taste. Director Erik Gandini lives in Sweden but was born and raised in Italy. He now returns to his home country and reveals how this TV experiment has changed the country and its citizens over the past 30 years.
"I was shocked by the fact that so many TV channels belong to one person, Silvio Berlusconi. No other Italian has had such a huge impact on the development of commercial television. The television channels he has owned for 30 years only reflect his personality. This begs me to ask, how does all this affect the soul of the Italian nation? ”Asks director Erik Gandini.
