The seventeenth century. Fourteen-year-old orphan Krabat works as an apprentice in a mysterious mill. Krabat is one of twelve young people working for a strange miller. He not only learns the art of grinding, but also black magic. When the lives of his friend and guardian are in danger, Krabat resolves to free himself from the influence of the evil sorcerer and begins an exciting struggle for freedom, friendship and love.
"Krabatas" is a dark, but at the same time inspiring fantastic story according to Otfried Preussler's bestseller of the same name. This book has been translated into more than 30 languages and sold over 1.8 million copies.
"It's a dark and at the same time very universal story, full of very strong images. It's a deep story that is not boring to watch, "says director Marco Kreuzpaintner.
